Master’s Ranch Helps Boys With Bipolar Disorder

Does Your Son Struggle with Bipolar Disorder

christian boys homesWe at Master’s Ranch and Christian Academy can help your boy as he suffers from Bipolar Disorder, a condition characterized by periods of unusually elevated mood and energy alternating with times of abnormally depleted mood and energy level.  His mood swings back and forth between elation and despair, tending towards the extremes, when compared to the typical “ups and downs” which most everybody experiences in life.

While he may experience normal phases sandwiched between, the elevated phase (clinically referred to as “manic”), could find him easily sidetracked, with racing thoughts, unsuitably high elevated self-regard, too much talking and too little need for sleep, bad decision making and little self control, and engaging in irresponsible behavior (i.e.: sexual activity, overindulgent drinking/eating/non-medical use).

His “depressive” (clinically low) periods might be distinguished with anxiety, remorse, seclusion, annoyance, sorrow, lack of energy, excessive/disturbed sleep, loss of interest in once-enjoyable activities or friends, suicidal thoughts or actions.

Family history and brain chemistry are considered factors, but causes for BPD are not clearly established; accepted factors include: a blood relative with BPD, life-controlling issues, a traumatic situation.

How Bipolar Disorder is Solved at Master’s Ranch

It is critical for your son to receive a correct diagnosis, especially due to the self-threatening nature of many of the behaviors associated with Bipolar Disorder; in some cases, commitment (either voluntary or involuntary) will be suitable in order to allow treatment to progress.  Early treatment is especially important (i.e.: not confusing his symptoms with chronic depression) as there is a high suicide rate among teens with Bipolar Disorder.

There are certainly medications that can help him control his BPD symptoms, which should be taken along with therapy from a qualified individual.  Both will be absolutely necessary for his lifetime, and it can be deceptive to feel that symptoms are no longer evident, causing one to think that his problems may have vanished and he’s been cured.

Master’s Ranch – A Special Place for Your Struggling Son.

christian boys homesA decidedly Christian, home-like setting, dedicated to the restoration and healing of families and their teens, our ranch-style Christian boys homes uses a family-style model with a strong emphasis on work and discipline.   Boys live on a fully operational farm and are taught responsibility by caring for horses, cattle, pigs and dogs. We give particular attention to using animals in anger management and for healing problems with emotional attachment.

The Master’s Ranch program is heavily occupational in nature. In addition to the animal husbandry skills he will learn on the ranch, your son will work with craftsmen in wood, metal, cement, plumbing and electrical construction.

Our computer-based academic curriculum is nationally accredited, enabling students to finish much of their elective requirements for high school, with traditional classroom instruction, remedial assistance, advanced, college-prep coursework all available, as well as a vocational diploma.

We offer your boy professional clinical-type counseling from licensed therapists in pastoral, group and individual sessions.  We use an informal approach to counseling, in which the outdoors setting encourages active boys to open up and share more readily.

If you’ve almost lost hope and are fighting for your son’s future, consider our small family environment in an agricultural setting, where training is balanced with an unmistakable atmosphere of mentoring, love and acceptance.

Master’s Ranch Christian Academy is a place of healing and hope.  Watch your at-risk teen transform into a healthy, hard-working, respectable, young man, with all the necessary confidence, self-respect and spiritual footing indispensable to fully embrace his family and his future.
