Students spend a lot of their free time fishing, playing sports, and just learning how to have healthy fun again.
We start right away with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They gain muscle, they have a reason to feel good about themselves, and they experience a positive achievement as they begin to meet fitness goals. The same concepts also work well in other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their achievements develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally comprehend the ramifications of bad actions. Their thinking straightens out and their destructive behavior is replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have qualified teachers on staff who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and college-prep programs are available for those who succeed academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a partial academic regimen to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have opportunities for vocational experience in the local economy. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. The wage they earn is put into a fund that they take home with them when they leave. The ranch itself also offers some vocational opportunities for the young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and self-confidence from these endeavors.
Teens participate in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about life and experience a relationship with Jesus. We offer pastoral counseling and ongoing mentoring and spiritual guidance.
