Boys from Warren, Michigan come to our boarding school to live in a structured environment, learning obedience and personal responsibility through a renewed focus on faith, caring for themselves and their future, and through caring for the animals on our ranch. Residents spend a lot of time fishing, playing sports, and just learning how to have wholesome fun again.
Physical Training
We start with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They develop strength, they have a reason to feel good about themselves, and they experience a positive achievement as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. The same concepts also work well in other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their accomplishments bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
Mental Training
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally comprehend the consequences of bad behaviors. Their thinking clears and their destructive behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. Master’s Ranch gives boys a reason to succeed.
Academic Training
We have certified teachers on staff who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accomplish both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and college-prep programs are ready for those who excel academically and desire to get ahead.
Our boarding academy operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a shortened academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have opportunities for work experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. The wage they earn is put into a fund that they take home with them when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some vocational opportunities for the young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and self-confidence from these endeavors.
Spiritual Training
Residents take part in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about God and discover a relationship with Jesus. We provide pastoral counseling and ongoing mentorship and spiritual guidance.
