Boys spend a lot of time hunting, playing sports, and just learning how to enjoy good clean fun again.
We begin with physical exercise with the goal of bringing boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They build muscle, their self-respect improves, and they experience something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in their education, their positive experiences build confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally understand the results of bad behaviors. Their thinking clears and their inappropriate behavior is replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have certified teachers on staff who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain subjects to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and college-prep programs are ready for those who succeed academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a shortened academic regimen to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for work experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. The wage they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some vocational opportunities for the young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these opportunities.
Teens participate in regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about life and experience a relationship with Jesus. We offer pastoral counseling and ongoing mentorship and spiritual guidance.
