We value education as a privilege, and we teach boys to think about it in the same way.
Boys spend a lot of time outdoors, playing sports, and generally learning how to enjoy good clean fun again.
We start right away with physical exercise to bring boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They gain strength, they have a reason to feel good about themselves, and they gain something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their achievements develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally understand the consequences of bad choices. Their thinking clears and their destructive behavior turns into character and integrity. Teens at Master’s Ranch have a reason to succeed.
We have certified teachers on staff who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accomplish both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and college-prep programs are available for those who succeed academically and desire to get ahead.
Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a half-day academic regimen to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have opportunities for work experience in the local economy. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some industries for the young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and self-confidence from these opportunities.
Teens take part in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about life and experience a relationship with Jesus. We offer pastoral counseling and life-on-life mentoring and spiritual guidance.
