Boys spend a lot of their free time fishing, playing sports, and just learning how to have healthy fun again.
We start with physical exercise with the goal of bringing boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They develop strength, their self-esteem improves, and they gain something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their achievements bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally comprehend the results of bad behaviors. Their thinking clears and their destructive behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have excellent teachers on our personnel who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accommodate both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and college-prep programs are scheduled for those who excel academically and desire to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During the summers we run a half-day academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given opportunities for work experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into an account that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also offers some industries for the young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these opportunities.
Residents participate in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about God and experience a relationship with Jesus. We offer pastoral counseling and person-to-person mentorship and spiritual direction.
