Students spend a lot of time hunting, playing sports, and just learning how to enjoy wholesome fun again.
We begin with physical exercise with the goal of bringing boys up to a basic level of fitness. They build muscle, they have a reason to feel good about themselves, and they gain a positive achievement as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their achievements develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally understand the results of bad behaviors. Their thinking straightens out and their destructive behavior turns into character and integrity. Teens at Master’s Ranch have a reason to succeed.
We have qualified teachers on our personnel who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be having difficulty with certain courses to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and college-prep programs are scheduled for those who succeed academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a half-day academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have opportunities for work experience in the local economy. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. The wage they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some vocational opportunities for the young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and self-confidence from these endeavors.
Students take part in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about God and experience a relationship with Jesus. We give group and individual counseling and life-on-life mentoring and spiritual direction.
