Throughout each boy’s stay, we engage them constantly as someone they can talk to freely, making therapy non-threatening and ongoing in a more natural environment. We work like a family, caring for these boys unconditionally and going through the days next to them, coaching and instructing them.
Master’s Ranch was Founded to Give Sons from Piqua, Ohio a New Start in Life
Master’s Ranch is a new home for boys from places like Piqua, Ohio, who need proper direction to turn their lives around. Parents bring their boys, age 12-17, to Master’s Ranch after seeing them begin a downward spiral which cannot be stopped by counseling alone.
Boys from Piqua, Ohio come to our boarding school to live in a structured environment, learning obedience and personal responsibility through a renewed focus on faith, caring for themselves and their future, and through caring for the animals on our ranch. We value education as a privilege, and we teach boys to think about it in the same way.
Residents spend a lot of their free time outdoors, playing sports, and generally learning how to enjoy good clean fun again.
We start with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a standard level of fitness. They develop strength, they feel good about themselves, and they experience a positive achievement as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. The same concepts also work well in other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in their education, their positive experiences build confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally comprehend the ramifications of bad behaviors. Their thinking straightens out and their inappropriate behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have excellent teachers on our personnel who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accommodate both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be having difficulty with certain subjects to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and college-prep programs are scheduled for those who excel academically and desire to get ahead.
Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During the summers we run a shortened academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have opportunities for work experience in the local economy. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dime they earn is put into a fund that they take home with them when they go home. The ranch itself also offers some vocational opportunities for the young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and self-confidence from these endeavors.
Teens have access to regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about God and experience a relationship with Jesus. We offer pastoral counseling and life-on-life mentorship and spiritual guidance.
