Residents spend a lot of their free time hunting, playing sports, and generally learning how to have healthy fun again.
We start with physical training to bring boys up to a standard level of fitness. They gain strength, their self-esteem improves, and they experience something positive as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their positive experiences bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally realize the consequences of bad behaviors. Their thinking straightens out and their destructive behavior is replaced with character and integrity. Teens at Master’s Ranch have a reason to succeed.
We have qualified teachers on staff who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be having difficulty with certain subjects to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and college-prep programs are available for those who excel academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding academy operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a half-day academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for vocational experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into an account that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also offers some industries for the young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these opportunities.
Students have access to daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about God and experience a relationship with Jesus. We give group and individual counseling and life-on-life mentoring and spiritual guidance.
