If your teen has been getting into trouble, he could use someone to confide in who will hear him and speak truth to him without judgment. We provide therapy throughout the week, both individual and also in a group setting. Throughout each boy’s stay, we engage them constantly as someone they can talk to freely, making therapy non-threatening and ongoing in a more natural environment. We maintain a watchful eye, especially in the early days, but we do so while giving them loving care and inspiring them toward a personal relationship with God. We run like a family, caring for these boys no matter what and going through the days beside them, coaching and instructing them.
Master’s Ranch was Founded to Provide Boys from Jacksonville, Illinois a New Path in Life
Master’s Ranch is a new home for teenage boys from places like Jacksonville, Illinois, who need proper direction to turn their lives around. Parents enroll their young men, age 12-17, to Master’s Ranch after seeing them begin a downward spiral which cannot be stopped by counseling alone.
Boys from Jacksonville, Illinois come to our boarding school to live in a structured environment, learning obedience and personal responsibility through a renewed focus on faith, caring for themselves and their future, and through caring for the animals on our ranch. We view education as a privilege, and we teach boys to view it in the same way.
Boys spend a great deal of their free time outdoors, playing sports, and just learning how to enjoy wholesome fun again.
We start right away with physical training to bring boys up to a standard level of fitness. They develop strength, they feel good about themselves, and they gain something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their accomplishments develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally come to terms with the results of bad behaviors. Their thinking straightens out and their destructive behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have qualified teachers on our personnel who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accomplish both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be having difficulty with certain courses to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and college-prep programs are scheduled for those who succeed academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a half-day academic regimen to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have opportunities for work experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. The wage they earn is put into a fund that they take home with them when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some vocational opportunities for the young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and self-confidence from these endeavors.
Teens have access to daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about life and choose a relationship with Jesus. We provide group and individual counseling and life-on-life mentorship and spiritual direction.
