We provide therapy throughout the week, both one-on-one and also group counseling sessions. Throughout each boy’s stay, we engage them constantly as someone they can talk to freely, making therapy non-threatening and ongoing in a more natural environment. We maintain a watchful eye, especially in the early days, but we do so while surrounding them with loving care and inspiring them toward a personal relationship with God. We operate like a family, loving these boys unconditionally and going through the days next to them, coaching and instructing them.

Master’s Ranch is a home away from home for teenage boys from places like Highland Park, Illinois, who need proper direction to turn their lives around. Parents bring their young men, age 12-17, to Master’s Ranch after seeing them begin a downward spiral which cannot be stopped by counseling alone.
Boys from Highland Park, Illinois come to our boarding school to live in a disciplined environment, learning obedience and personal responsibility through a renewed focus on faith, caring for themselves and their future, and through caring for the animals on our ranch. We treat education as a privilege, and we teach boys to think about it in the same way.
Boys spend a lot of time camping, playing sports, and generally learning how to have wholesome fun again.
We start right away with physical exercise to bring boys up to a basic level of fitness. They develop muscle, they feel good about themselves, and they experience a positive achievement as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. The same concepts also work well in other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in their education, their positive experiences build confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally understand the results of bad actions. Their thinking straightens out and their inappropriate behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. Master’s Ranch gives boys a reason to succeed.
We have qualified teachers on our personnel who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain subjects to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and college-prep programs are scheduled for those who excel academically and desire to get ahead.
Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During the summers we run a partial academic regimen to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have opportunities for vocational experience in the local economy. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they go home. The ranch itself also provides some industries for the young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and self-confidence from these opportunities.
Students have access to regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about life and experience a relationship with Jesus. We offer biblical counseling and ongoing mentoring and spiritual guidance.
