Boys spend a lot of their weekends and free time hunting, playing sports, and just learning how to enjoy healthy fun again.
We start right away with physical exercise to bring boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They build muscle, their self-respect improves, and they gain something positive as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their accomplishments develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally comprehend the consequences of bad actions. Their thinking clears and their inappropriate behavior turns into character and integrity. Master’s Ranch gives boys a reason to succeed.
We have excellent teachers on staff who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be having difficulty with certain subjects to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are ready for those who succeed academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding academy operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a partial academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for vocational experience in the local economy. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. The wage they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these opportunities.
Students have access to regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about life and experience a relationship with Jesus. We give group and individual counseling and ongoing mentorship and spiritual direction.
