Students spend a great deal of their free time hunting, playing sports, and just learning how to have good clean fun again.
We begin with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a standard level of fitness. They develop strength, their self-esteem improves, and they experience something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their positive experiences develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally come to terms with the ramifications of bad behaviors. Their thinking straightens out and their inappropriate behavior is replaced with character and integrity. Teens at Master’s Ranch have a reason to succeed.
We have qualified teachers on staff who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accomplish both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain subjects to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are available for those who succeed academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding academy operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a shortened academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given opportunities for vocational experience in the local economy. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into an account that they take home with them when they leave. The ranch itself also offers some vocational opportunities for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and a self-confidence from these opportunities.
Teens take part in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about life and choose a relationship with Jesus. We provide biblical counseling and person-to-person mentorship and spiritual guidance.
