Boarding Schools for Boys in Virginia…Do They Provide Help for Troubled Boys Like Master’s Ranch Does?
Master’s Ranch in Missouri might be just the place you’re looking for if he’s getting in trouble and has gotten off track in life. A boarding school just for at-risk boys, we admit boys from Virginia and other states. We would love the opportunity to tell you about our affordable program, even if you are in Virginia.
If your needs someone to confide in who will listen to him and guide him without judgment, we are here to help. We provide counseling throughout the week, both individual and also in a group setting.
Throughout each boy’s stay, we engage them constantly as a friend they can talk to freely, making our counsel non-threatening and ongoing and in a more natural environment. We maintain close supervision, especially in the early days, but we do so while giving them loving care and encouraging them toward a personal relationship with God. We run like a family, loving these boys through their struggles and walking through the days alongside them, coaching and leading them.
Founded to Provide Sons from Virginia a New Path in Life
Master’s Ranch is a new home for teenage boys from other states like Virginia, who need proper direction to make a new start for themselves. Parents enroll their young men, age 12-17, to Master’s Ranch after learning that they’ve begun to get in trouble and headed on a downward spiral which cannot be stopped by counseling alone.
Boys at MRCA spend a lot of their free time camping, playing sports, and just learning how to enjoy wholesome fun again. They are brought to our boarding school to live in a disciplined environment, learning respect for authority and personal responsibility through a renewed focus on faith, caring for themselves and their future, and through caring for the animals on our ranch. We view education as a privilege, and we teach boys to look at it in the same way.
Adventure and Physical Outlets are Important in our Boarding School for Boys
We start with physical exercise to bring boys up to a standard level of fitness. They gain muscle, their self-esteem improves, and they gain a positive achievement as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their positive experiences develop confidence so that boys are built up.
Academic Training for Boys from Virginia
We have certified teachers on staff who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accommodate both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be having difficulty with certain subjects to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are ready for those who succeed academically and wish to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a half-day academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Helping Boys Begin Thinking About Appropriate Boundaries
MRCA goes beyond traditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally comprehend the ramifications of bad actions. Their thinking clears and their destructive behavior is replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
Troubled Boys from Virginia Learn from Vocational Training
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have a chance for work experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dime they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some vocational opportunities for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these opportunities.
Where Spiritual Training Leads to Improved Behaviors in Boys
Boys participate in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about God and choose a relationship with Jesus. We give group and individual counseling and life-on-life mentoring and spiritual direction.
Our Boarding School Sends Boys from Virginia Out Ready for Tomorrow
Boys from Virginia who complete the Master’s Ranch program may go home to Virginia to complete high school and rejoin their parents, or they may move on to college, further trades training, employment, or the armed services. Master’s Ranch graduates are well prepared for successful futures.
