Students spend a great deal of time camping, playing sports, and just learning how to have good clean fun again.
We start right away with physical exercise to bring boys up to a standard level of fitness. They build muscle, they have a reason to feel good about themselves, and they gain something positive as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. The same concepts also work well in other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their accomplishments build confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally realize the results of bad actions. Their thinking clears and their inappropriate behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. Master’s Ranch gives boys a reason to succeed.
We have certified teachers on our personnel who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accomplish both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain subjects to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are available for those who excel academically and wish to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a half-day academic regimen to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have a chance for work experience in the local economy. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dime they earn is put into a fund that they take home with them when they leave. The ranch itself also offers some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a self-confidence from these opportunities.
Teens have access to daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about God and choose a relationship with Jesus. We offer group and individual counseling and ongoing mentorship and spiritual guidance.
