Students spend a lot of their free time fishing, playing sports, and just learning how to enjoy healthy fun again.
We start right away with physical exercise to bring boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They develop strength, they have a reason to feel good about themselves, and they experience something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their positive experiences bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally realize the consequences of bad behaviors. Their thinking clears and their inappropriate behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. Teens at Master’s Ranch have a reason to succeed.
We have certified teachers on our personnel who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accomplish both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are available for those who succeed academically and desire to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During the summers we run a shortened academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for work experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they go home. The ranch itself also provides some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a self-confidence from these opportunities.
Residents take part in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about life and discover a relationship with Jesus. We give biblical counseling and person-to-person mentorship and spiritual direction.
