Students spend a great deal of time hunting, playing sports, and just learning how to have healthy fun again.
We begin with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a basic level of fitness. They develop strength, their self-esteem improves, and they gain something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. The same concepts also work well in other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their positive experiences develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally understand the ramifications of bad choices. Their thinking straightens out and their destructive behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. Master’s Ranch gives boys a reason to succeed.
We have qualified teachers on staff who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accommodate both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are available for those who succeed academically and desire to get ahead.
Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a half-day academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for vocational experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dime they earn is put into an account that they withdraw when they go home. The ranch itself also offers some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these opportunities.
Boys have access to regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about life and discover a relationship with Jesus. We offer pastoral counseling and person-to-person mentoring and spiritual guidance.
