We start right away with physical exercise to bring boys up to a basic level of fitness. They develop muscle, they feel good about themselves, and they experience a positive achievement as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in their education, their accomplishments bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally realize the ramifications of bad choices. Their thinking straightens out and their inappropriate behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have excellent teachers on our personnel who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are ready for those who excel academically and desire to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a shortened academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given opportunities for vocational experience in the local economy. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dime they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they go home. The ranch itself also provides some vocational opportunities for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these endeavors.
Boys take part in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about God and discover a relationship with Jesus. We give group and individual counseling and ongoing mentorship and spiritual guidance.
