We start with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a standard level of fitness. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their accomplishments bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally come to terms with the results of bad actions. Their thinking straightens out and their inappropriate behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have excellent teachers on our personnel who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accomplish both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be having difficulty with certain subjects to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are available for those who succeed academically and desire to get ahead.
Our boarding academy operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a shortened academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for vocational experience in the local economy. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into an account that they withdraw when they go home. The ranch itself also provides some vocational opportunities for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these endeavors.
Residents have access to regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about life and experience a relationship with Jesus. We provide group and individual counseling and life-on-life mentoring and spiritual guidance.
