Boys spend a lot of their free time camping, playing sports, and generally learning how to have good clean fun again.
We start with physical exercise with the goal of bringing boys up to a basic level of fitness. They develop strength, they feel good about themselves, and they experience something positive as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in their education, their achievements bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally understand the ramifications of bad choices. Their thinking clears and their destructive behavior is replaced with character and integrity. Teens at Master’s Ranch have a reason to succeed.
We have certified teachers on staff who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are ready for those who succeed academically and wish to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a shortened academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for vocational experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into an account that they take home with them when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some vocational opportunities for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these opportunities.
Teens take part in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about God and experience a relationship with Jesus. We offer pastoral counseling and ongoing mentorship and spiritual direction.
