Boys spend a great deal of their weekends and free time hunting, playing sports, and generally learning how to have wholesome fun again.
We start with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a basic level of fitness. They develop strength, their self-respect improves, and they experience something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in their education, their accomplishments build confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally realize the consequences of bad behaviors. Their thinking straightens out and their destructive behavior is replaced with character and integrity. Master’s Ranch gives boys a reason to succeed.
We have qualified teachers on our personnel who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be having difficulty with certain courses to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are scheduled for those who excel academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During the summers we run a partial academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for vocational experience in the local economy. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dime they earn is put into an account that they take home with them when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these endeavors.
Students take part in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about life and discover a relationship with Jesus. We offer biblical counseling and life-on-life mentorship and spiritual direction.
