We begin with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They gain strength, they have a reason to feel good about themselves, and they experience a positive achievement as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their achievements develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally comprehend the ramifications of bad actions. Their thinking clears and their destructive behavior is replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have excellent teachers on staff who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accomplish both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be having difficulty with certain subjects to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are scheduled for those who excel academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding academy operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During the summers we run a half-day academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given opportunities for vocational experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into an account that they take home with them when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these endeavors.
Boys participate in regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about life and experience a relationship with Jesus. We provide biblical counseling and person-to-person mentoring and spiritual guidance.
