After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have opportunities for vocational experience in the local economy. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. The wage they earn is put into an account that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also offers some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a self-confidence from these opportunities.
