Residents spend a lot of time hunting, playing sports, and generally learning how to have good clean fun again.
We start right away with physical exercise to bring boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They gain strength, their self-esteem improves, and they experience something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. The same concepts also work well in other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their positive experiences develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally come to terms with the consequences of bad behaviors. Their thinking clears and their inappropriate behavior is replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have certified teachers on our personnel who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accommodate both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are available for those who excel academically and desire to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During the summers we run a shortened academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for vocational experience in the local economy. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dime they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they go home. The ranch itself also offers some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a self-confidence from these opportunities.
Teens participate in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about God and experience a relationship with Jesus. We offer group and individual counseling and person-to-person mentoring and spiritual guidance.
