Residents spend a lot of their free time camping, playing sports, and just learning how to have healthy fun again.
We begin with physical training to bring boys up to a standard level of fitness. They build muscle, they feel good about themselves, and they experience a positive achievement as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their positive experiences develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally understand the consequences of bad actions. Their thinking straightens out and their inappropriate behavior is replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have qualified teachers on our personnel who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are ready for those who excel academically and desire to get ahead.
Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a shortened academic regimen to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have opportunities for vocational experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they go home. The ranch itself also offers some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these endeavors.
Teens have access to daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about God and experience a relationship with Jesus. We provide biblical counseling and person-to-person mentoring and spiritual direction.
