We value education as a privilege, and we teach boys to think about it in the same way.
Boys spend a great deal of their weekends and free time outdoors, playing sports, and generally learning how to have good clean fun again.
We start right away with physical exercise to bring boys up to a standard level of fitness. They gain muscle, their self-respect improves, and they gain a positive achievement as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in their education, their achievements develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally realize the ramifications of bad behaviors. Their thinking clears and their destructive behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have certified teachers on our personnel who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain subjects to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are scheduled for those who excel academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding academy operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a partial academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have a chance for work experience in the local economy. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. The wage they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also offers some vocational opportunities for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a self-confidence from these opportunities.
Residents take part in regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about life and discover a relationship with Jesus. We offer group and individual counseling and person-to-person mentoring and spiritual guidance.
