Students spend a lot of time camping, playing sports, and generally learning how to have good clean fun again.
We start right away with physical exercise to bring boys up to a standard level of fitness. They build strength, they feel good about themselves, and they gain a positive achievement as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their achievements bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally understand the ramifications of bad behaviors. Their thinking straightens out and their inappropriate behavior turns into character and integrity. Teens at Master’s Ranch have a reason to succeed.
We have excellent teachers on our personnel who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accommodate both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are available for those who excel academically and desire to get ahead.
Our boarding academy operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During the summers we run a half-day academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have a chance for vocational experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into an account that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also offers some vocational opportunities for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a self-confidence from these endeavors.
Residents have access to regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about God and choose a relationship with Jesus. We give pastoral counseling and person-to-person mentorship and spiritual direction.
