Our boarding school operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a shortened academic regimen to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for vocational experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dime they earn is put into an account that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these opportunities.
