Boys spend a great deal of their free time fishing, playing sports, and generally learning how to have healthy fun again.
We start with physical exercise to bring boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They gain muscle, their self-esteem improves, and they experience a positive achievement as they begin to meet fitness goals. The same concepts also work well in other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their positive experiences bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally come to terms with the consequences of bad behaviors. Their thinking clears and their destructive behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have certified teachers on staff who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring assistance to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are scheduled for those who excel academically and wish to get ahead.
Our boarding academy operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a half-day academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have opportunities for work experience in the local economy. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. The wage they earn is put into an account that they withdraw when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and a self-confidence from these opportunities.
Teens participate in daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about God and choose a relationship with Jesus. We offer pastoral counseling and person-to-person mentoring and spiritual direction.
