Boys spend a great deal of their weekends and free time camping, playing sports, and generally learning how to have good clean fun again.
We start right away with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a standard level of fitness. They gain strength, their self-esteem improves, and they gain something positive as they begin to see progress in their fitness goals. The same concepts also work well in other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their positive experiences develop confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally come to terms with the consequences of bad behaviors. Their thinking clears and their destructive behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. Teens at Master’s Ranch have a reason to succeed.
We have excellent teachers on staff who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accommodate both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be having difficulty with certain courses to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are available for those who excel academically and wish to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During the summers we run a shortened academic regimen to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have a chance for vocational experience in the local economy. It allows them to exercise their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dime they earn is put into an account that they take home with them when they go home. The ranch itself also offers some vocational opportunities for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these endeavors.
Students have access to daily devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about life and experience a relationship with Jesus. We give biblical counseling and person-to-person mentoring and spiritual direction.
