Boys spend a lot of time fishing, playing sports, and just learning how to have good clean fun again.
We begin with physical exercise with the goal of bringing boys up to a standard level of fitness. They develop muscle, their self-respect improves, and they gain a positive achievement as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their positive experiences bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally understand the ramifications of bad actions. Their thinking clears and their inappropriate behavior disappears, replaced with character and integrity. Teens at Master’s Ranch have a reason to succeed.
We have certified teachers on our personnel who offer instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain subjects to master them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are ready for those who excel academically and desire to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students engaged and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. All summer we run a shortened academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
Boys who have improved their actions and have become trustworthy are given a chance for work experience in the local economy. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into an account that they take home with them when they leave. The ranch itself also offers some vocational opportunities for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys gain marketable skills and a real sense of accomplishment from these opportunities.
Students take part in regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about life and experience a relationship with Jesus. We offer biblical counseling and person-to-person mentoring and spiritual direction.
