Boys spend a lot of their free time hunting, playing sports, and generally learning how to have wholesome fun again.
We start with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a minimum level of fitness. They develop strength, they feel good about themselves, and they gain something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. The same concepts also work well in other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in academics, their accomplishments bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps young men to mentally realize the consequences of bad actions. Their thinking clears and their inappropriate behavior is replaced with character and integrity. At Master’s Ranch, we give boys every opportunity to be successful.
We have excellent teachers on our personnel who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we accommodate both ends of the academic spectrum. The self-paced curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain courses to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are scheduled for those who succeed academically and desire to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the chance to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a half-day academic regimen to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have a chance for work experience in select businesses nearby. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. Every dollar they earn is put into a fund that they withdraw when they go home. The ranch itself also offers some vocational opportunities for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a self-confidence from these opportunities.
Students take part in regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have the chance to ask questions about God and choose a relationship with Jesus. We give biblical counseling and life-on-life mentorship and spiritual direction.
