Residents spend a lot of their free time camping, playing sports, and just learning how to enjoy good clean fun again.
We start with physical training with the goal of bringing boys up to a standard level of fitness. They develop muscle, they have a reason to feel good about themselves, and they experience something positive as they begin to meet fitness goals. Those achievements carry over into other areas. In work projects and vocational skills and even in school, their achievements bolster confidence so that boys are built up.
MRCA goes beyond trqditional boarding schools in that it helps boys to mentally realize the results of bad actions. Their thinking clears and their destructive behavior turns into character and integrity. Master’s Ranch gives boys a reason to succeed.
We have certified teachers on our personnel who provide instruction and one-on-one tutoring attention to the students. At Master’s Ranch, we focus on both ends of the academic spectrum. The flexible curriculum allows students who may be struggling with certain subjects to accomplish them and catch up. Advanced coursework and a college-prep programs are ready for those who succeed academically and desire to get ahead.
Our residential academic program operates year-round, to keep students involved and to give them the opportunity to catch up or retake courses and improve their grade point average. During normal summer break we run a partial academic schedule to allow time for projects, sports and recreation.
After the boys are at the ranch for a time, they have a chance for work experience in the local economy. It allows them to try out their new coping skills and to earn money to help them once they leave the ranch. The wage they earn is put into an account that they take home with them when they leave. The ranch itself also provides some industries for the boys young men to learn from, including handling the cattle, construction, pedigree dog breeding, and farming. The boys are trained marketable skills and a self-confidence from these opportunities.
Students take part in regular devotions and weekly church services, so they have opportunities to ask questions about life and experience a relationship with Jesus. We provide pastoral counseling and ongoing mentoring and spiritual guidance.
